Your life is a constant conversion with God, even if you don’t know it. This is why even atheists refer to God when cursing or complaining. The reason for this constant life-long conversation with God is that everyone is created by God and lives inside God’s universe. God created you and your soul knows it deep down. Everyone does. That reality is unavoidable. So when you try to create your own life and live in your own reality, your life gets offline with the real universe and becomes dysfunctional. Psalm 107 is a masterful, poetic look into four different windows of what your life looks like when you wander away from the reality of who God is. This episode is a part 2 of the episode prior to this. Finding Security in Jesus as Your Perfect Mediator | Psalm 106

The weird thing about the Christian life is that the more you are walking in the light and the truth of God’s word, the more you are aware of your sin. You’re more aware that your sinfulness sinks its roots in your life far deeper than you realize. It gets weirder yet when your awareness of your sinfulness actually brings a sense of joy and security in all that God is for you in Jesus. It makes you more secure in your relationship with God when you finally realize it’s all based on Jesus being your perfect mediator rather than your having to become more worthy. Personally I have found it to be peace giving and joy giving and gratitude giving to worship God by meditating on and praying through biblical verses about Jesus as my perfect mediator before God. And that’s the subject of this episode. In the past few episodes we’ve discussed three things you have to believe if you want to walk with God: 1. That God’s word/promises are true. 2. That he loves you specifically with an abundant infinite steadfast love. 3. And that his will for you ultimately is your good. Your only good. Your better story. Most dysfunctions and problems in life stem from only seeing yourself from an horizontal point of view. What others think of you and say to you has way too much say in how you see yourself. How Honest Confession Can Free You | Psalm 106

We live in a cultural narrative that focuses on therapy (healing) more than reality. But an honest diagnosis of reality is always your best therapy. That’s counterintuitive. We don’t like thinking about our sin because it makes us feel bad about ourselves. But that’s true only if you think about your guilt but don’t honestly take responsibility for your sin. Honest confession of your sin and taking honest responsibility for its reality in your life is tremendously freeing if you also understand the glory of the gospel. Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! 6 Both we and our fathers have sinned; we have committed iniquity; we have done wickedness. 7 Our fathers, when they were in Egypt, did not consider your wondrous works; they did not remember the abundance of your steadfast love, but rebelled by the sea, at the Red Sea. 10 So he saved them from the hand of the foe and redeemed them from the power of the enemy. 13 But they soon forgot his works; they did not wait for his counsel. 20 They exchanged the glory of God for the image of an ox that eats grass. 21 They forgot God, their Savior, who had done great things in Egypt, 22 wondrous works in the land of Ham, and awesome deeds by the Red Sea. 24 Then they despised the pleasant land, having no faith in his promise. 25 They murmured in their tents, and did not obey the voice of the LORD. 36 They served their idols, which became a snare to them. 37 They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons; 45 For their sake he remembered his covenant, and relented according to the abundance of his steadfast love. 47 Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise. 48 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting!
